People usually seek my services when they realize that they are not happy living the way they have been living, and are motivated to make a change.
Since we do not live alone in the world, the way we behave affects everyone who's in contact with us: spouses, children, friends, relatives, associates, but mostly, ourselves. If we choose to make a change, that will also affect all those other relationships we are in.
I mostly work with people who are seeking a new way of living, and a new way of relating to others. They want to enjoy themselves and enjoy their relationships.
Sometimes maladaptive behaviors get in the way of having successful relationships, careers, or doing well in school. We work on modifying those behaviors so that they no longer jeopardize your goals.
I work with individuals in pursuing their personal growth, finding their own answers and their own balance in life.
With families helping them set healthy boundaries, promote healthy and effective parenting, develop skills to effectively raise children with ADHD and other behavior issues and the stress associated with that, and balance healthy family life. Expatriate families and their Third World Kids is also an area of interest of mine, and I have extensive experience working with this population and their many transitions and cross cultural issues.
With couples introducing a different, more respectful communication style, and teaching them to self-soothe and respond more effectively, as opposed to overreacting. This is especially important when working with Interfaith and Cross Cultural Couples which is one of my areas of interest.
I also specialize in working with women who are experiencing Depression/Anxiety Disorders related to Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS), Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), Infertility, Pregnancy, Childbirth and Menopause. I have successfully treated over 100 women with Mood and Anxiety Disorders related to reproductive hormones, such as Postpartum Depression and Postpartum OCD.
Adjustment to Life Cycle Transitions can be difficult at times. I help clients adjust to such transitions as getting married, becoming parents, having an empty nest, dealing with divorce and death.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Client Centered Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Sex Addiction, Family Systems Therapy, Relational Life Therapy and Couples Therapy. I am also a UCLA PEERS® Certified Provider.
